Account info you give us to sign up (email, username, and a password — we only ever store a one-way hash of your password, never the password itself). Profile info you choose to add (display name, country, bio, photos, cover photo). Content you create (Groove posts, comments, messages, and call recordings, but only when a recording is actually made under the rules in our Recording & Consent Policy below). Basic technical info needed to run the app, like a session cookie that keeps you logged in.
To run Lingogroove: connecting you with language partners and groups, running voice/video calls, showing your posts and profile to other users the way the app is meant to work, and tracking your M2J Coins and level. We also use reports and account activity to help keep the community safe.
Traffic between your device and Lingogroove is encrypted in transit (HTTPS). We're actively working toward end-to-end encryption for chat messages, so that one day not even Lingogroove will be able to read them. Until that's live, message content is stored on our servers like most messaging features, protected by access controls that limit who on our side can view it.
Recordings are only ever made under the consent rules described in our Recording & Consent Policy below. They're stored privately — never made public by default — and are permanently deleted once nobody who ever had access to them wants to keep them anymore.
We don't sell your personal data to advertisers or other companies. We may share information if we're required to by law.
You can leave any group, choose per-group whether you receive that group's call recordings, remove recordings from your own list at any time, delete Groove posts and comments you made, and close your account.
Lingogroove isn't intended for children under 13 (or the minimum age required to use online services in your country, if that's higher).
If we make a meaningful change to this policy, we'll update the "last updated" date above.
Nobody's audio or video is ever recorded unless both people agree. Whoever wants to record has to actively request it, with a plain-language notice of what recording means; the other person then has to actively accept. If they decline, nothing is recorded — for that call, full stop. Recording only actually begins after that acceptance.
A group admin can start a recording. The moment it starts, everyone currently on the call is notified immediately — both visually and with a sound — so you always know when a call is being recorded and can decide whether to stay.
A DM recording is only ever visible to the two people who were on that call. A group recording is only visible to members who are still in that group and who have turned on "Get this group's recordings" in the group's menu — this is off by default, so nobody receives a group's recordings without deliberately opting in.
For a DM call, just decline when asked — nothing gets recorded. For a group call, an admin can start recording without asking first, but you'll always be notified the instant it starts, and you're free to speak up or leave the call. Separately, the "Get this group's recordings" setting only controls whether you personally keep a copy of a group's recordings afterward — it doesn't stop the call itself from being recorded.
Removing a recording from your own list doesn't delete it for anyone else who still has access to it. It's only permanently erased — from our servers, everywhere — once every single person who ever had access to it has removed it from their own list too.
Never record someone without their real, informed agreement, and follow the recording laws that apply wherever each of you is located — some places require every participant's consent, not just one person's.
You must be at least 13 (or the minimum age required to use online services in your country, if higher) to use Lingogroove.
No harassment, hate speech, threats, spam, or illegal content. Treat your language partners the way you'd want to be treated.
Keep your login secure. You're responsible for activity on your account.
You own what you post. By posting, you give Lingogroove permission to display it to other users as part of the normal features of the app — for example, your Groove posts showing up in other members' feeds.
If you report another user or a message, please include a screenshot of the conversation whenever possible. This helps our team review the report accurately and quickly, especially in cases our team can't otherwise see the content of.
We may warn, restrict, or suspend accounts that break these rules.
These terms may be updated from time to time. Continuing to use Lingogroove after a change means you accept the update.
